Hi Brad, I wold probably recommend Paypal unless they are a very high traffic site , in that case they might get a better transaction rate. Ease of setting it up is the main concern until you are talking about very big bucks :-)

i have client who - down the road - will need a shopping cart implemented...do you recommend anyone over PayPal? I see they have some pretty cool looking SDKs, but if there is a better provider (i.e., cheaper and/or better functionality), i won't even start down that path with them...

I have run up against two things that I can't figure out.

  1. I created two gif images using paint shop and both images should have background areas that are transparent. In paint shop, both images appear identical and when I go to the gif optimizer both images indicate that there is a transparent background. When I display the two images in the IE or Firefox browser, one has a transparent background and the other does not.

 

 2. Working from Homesite with local files, when I use the <img> tag to display an image, the image shows up in my Firefox browser but not my IE browser.

 

Anyone have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong or settings I may need to change on my computer?

Thanks Brad for the question and Charlie for the answer.  I was having some problems with that too.  My class="menuitems" was stacking up on each other.  I will try display:block.

Hi Doug we haven't really hit on many cross browser issues yet since I usually wait until our more complex tabbed nave example to bring those out. One of the critical differences though is dependent upon the type of element used. In IE elements that have a width and height are automatically block elments in FF only divs are. In other words, you have to specifically set display:block for FF in non Div elements if you want them to stack vertically :-)
